Shirley fought the fight, kept the faith, and won the race on June 15, 2017. Surrounded by all the love a family could give, Shirley went to her eternal home with Jesus.

Every day she lived her life for Jesus and even through the most difficult struggles of life, she never lost the faith. She kept her eye on the prize and won. Her life was a testimony and it spoke volumes as to the countless numbers of people whose lives she touched with prayers, calls, letters and cards.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Wayne, her parents, John and Edna, 3 brothers, Jim, Jack and baby Horace, 3 sisters; Doris, Faye and Hazel, a grandson; Tommy and a son-in-law, Wayne Miller.

Left to cherish her memory are daughters Rita, Lisa (husband Terry), and son Johnny (wife Martha), 6 grandchildren; Michele, Timothy, Tonya, Shanae, Jennifer and Heather, 12 great grandchildren; Peyton, Leanne, Jessica, Kimberly, Joseph, Ahna, Makena, Eli, Ella, Eva and John, Cooper and one more on the way, 5 great-great grandchildren; Calen, Hunter, Aiden, Xzayvier and Jaxon, her sister, Lois and brother Bobby and many nieces, nephews, church family and friends.

Shirley loved to pray for us all, she was the family pillar, prayer warrior and rock who we all leaned on. We love and will cherish her forever.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Faith Baptist Church in Lenoir with Reverend Derick Lingerfelt and Reverend Jerry Lingerfelt officiating.
